Successful Biomass Conversion Project for a Leading Tyre Manufacturer based in Meerut (Uttar Pradesh)
The Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas, in its directive dated 2nd June 2022, mandated the switchover of coal-fired boilers to either PNG or Biomass, with the critical condition of achieving SPM levels below 80 mg/NM³, effective from 1st October 2022.
We were entrusted by a reputed Tyre industry major to collaborate on this transition — converting their coal-fired boiler to a biomass-fired system.
As part of this journey, we successfully:
- Executed a complete switchover to biomass
- Tuned combustion systems to handle multiple biomass types effectively
- Trained plant operating staff on combustion theory and its real-world application
- Audited and refurbished the Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP), including internal and rapping arrangements
- Achieved SPM levels significantly below the 80 mg/NM³ limit, ensuring full compliance
- Conducted extensive trials and analysis of various biomass fuels
- Delivered end-to-end support including tuning, testing, and training
